As part of a national roll out in each MEM region Laois Civil Defence now operates Small Unmanned Aircraft (Drones) to aid in our operations. These systems enable us to get an aerial view and search a lot of ground very quickly in search and rescue operations, major accidents or flooding incidents.
Laois Civil Defence currently has 3 pilots licenced by the Irish Aviation Authority who are one of 21 SUA teams located around the country. One of our pilots also holds the instructor rating qualification from the Irish Aviation Authority as one of the instructors of national pilots attached to Civil Defence.
